How do I know if I qualify for Medicare Part A benefits?
You must have a Medicare card that reads “hospital insurance” and must have spent a minimum of three consecutive days (not counting the day of discharge) in a hospital. The hospital stay must not have occurred more than 30 days prior to entering Salude. Further, a physician must certify that you need skilled nursing or skilled rehabilitation care on a continuing basis and the need for skilled care must relate to the reason for hospitalization.
What do Medicare Part A and Part B cover?
For any eligible beneficiary needing skilled nursing or skilled rehabilitation consistent with Medicare coverage criteria, Medicare Part A coverage will pay for a semi-private suite, meals, nursing services, rehabilitation services, medications, supplies and durable medical equipment for up to 100 days. For the first 20 days in a nursing home, Medicare covers 100 percent of skilled care. From Day 21 through Day 100, the patient must pay a daily co-insurance rate. Patients who are eligible for the services covered under Medicare Part B will be responsible for an annual deductible plus 20 percent of the total charges for services such as occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy, as well as medical supplies. For more information on Medicare, please visit www.medicare.gov.
What are your service standards?
We have very high service standards. Our patient satisfaction scores have composites that are 94% or higher (2016 data).
What is your nursing ratio?
Because of our transitional care and physical recovery nature, our nursing ratios are much improved compared to what one may typically see in a nursing home setting. This way you will get more immediate attention to your needs and recover more quickly.
What are visitation hours?
You can visit anytime. For a nominal fee, you can also dine with your loved one. Our main entrance doors close at 8pm daily, so you will need to call us to enter after that time in order for us to ensure a quiet environment for our recovering patients.
What is the availability of your rehabilitation department?
Our rehabilitation department is open seven days a week. Based on your progress and insurance coverage, you may be able to get additional time daily for rehabilitation. Once admitted, you will be evaluated by our therapy team and an individualized treatment plan will be developed. Our rehabilitation therapy is provided by Aegis Therapies®. Learn more about Aegis Therapies® here.
Will my physician come see me?
We keep in close contact with your primary care and/or specialist physician(s). We welcome visits from your physician(s), and at Salude, we have a “Transitionist” as our CEO and Medical Director. We also have two primary physician care groups who will see you within 36 hours of admission as well as a physiatrist and infectious disease specialist available seven days a week. Additionally, our model involves nurse practitioners available seven days a week to see you for any issues.
Do you have any other options for adding amenities and luxury?
We believe all of our customers deserve the best, with a tranquil healing recovery approach. As a result, all of our 64 suites are private at no extra charge. For the complete Salude experience, you can upgrade to our “Concierge Amenities”. For more information about our concierge services, please go here. We also have in-suite salon services available. Please call our concierge desk at 1-770-904-3222 for the latest services and pricing.
How long can I expect to stay?
Our current average length of stay for Medicare patients is about 21 days and less for managed care patients. This greatly varies depending on your medical condition and complexity of expected recovery.
How do I get accepted at Salude as a patient?
Most of our patients come from the hospital, acute rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing facilities or from home. If you’re in an inpatient setting, please ask your social worker or case manager to see if you qualify for our transitional care and physical recovery services. If you’re coming from home, you must first be approved by your insurance company. Please call our admissions department for assistance at 770-904-3202.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept Medicare, and being a new facility, we are continually adding new managed care insurance plans. Call our admissions department at 770-904-3202 to find out which plans are accepted. It is important to understand the coverage of your insurance plan and to be aware of any copays that may be involved.
What is included in my stay?
Like other skilled nursing facilities, most all elements of your stay are included; however, you will need to pay for transport to medical appointments.
